WHAT IS WORKPLACE GIVING?

Workplace Giving, or Employee Giving, is an incredible opportunity for companies to encourage philanthropy and giving within their employee pool, which can contribute to a bigger impact for the greater good. MANY local companies such as Boeing, Starbucks, Nintendo, BECU, Nordstrom, Microsoft, and more provide their employees with an Employee Giving Program, many of which will match donations to a certain dollar amount!

Convenience & Tax Benefits
You get the convenience of automatic payroll deductions without losing the tax benefits of charitable giving.

Easy to Manage 
By having a smaller amount of money deducted from your paycheck throughout the year, you can donate a larger amount of money and have a greater impact overall. For example, if you get paid biweekly (26 times throughout the year) and you pledge $38.50 of each paycheck to Washington State Hands & Voices, by the end of the year you will have donated $1,000 to support families of children who are deaf, deafblind, or hard of hearing across the state!

Matching Gifts
Some employers will offer to match your contributions up to a specified amount.  This leverages your employer’s philanthropic support and maximizes your gift to the causes you care about.  Ask your Human Resource person or department about matching gifts or matching volunteer hours.

Cost-efficient and Sustainable Fundraising
Because Employee Giving programs are so efficient, your donation enables us to spend more time and resources on services and programs to serve families. 

Unrestricted Funds
Your donation provides Washington State Hands & Voices with a sustainable, year-round source of funds. And because this money is ‘unrestricted,’ your donation provides us with funds that enable us to decide where that money is most needed.

Washington State’s Combined Fund Drive

If you are a Washington State employee, you can support Washington State Hands & Voices through the State’s Combined Fund Drive! The Combined Fund Drive (CFD) is Washington State’s workplace giving program for active and retired public employees. State and higher education employees are invited to give to the charity of their choice through payroll contribution and agency fundraising events.

According to the CFD, “Washington State has proven to be one of the most giving states in the nation. Each year, over 15,000 active and retired public employees pledge more than $5 million to over 1,700 local, national and global charities. That number is good enough to place Washington State third in the nation amongst state employee giving programs, an incredible feat given the fact that our great state is 13th in overall population.”
